The use of copper in the garden

The use of copper

I wrote some time ago about how I had got some old electric cable from work and after spending hours and hours stripping the plastic sheathing away I had numerous lengths of copper wire that I used to put around the top of the thick wooden sides of my deep beds as a slug barrier. To say it has worked is an understatement, though I do get the occasional slug, even the worst infestation im my beds can be counted on one hand with fingers to spare. I can only recomend the use of a copper barrier to anyone who wishes to protect their crops from the attentions of what is one of or worst pests. I have also built two planters on wooden legs with copper wore around each leg that allows me to grow my lettuces with no slug damage at all to either.
