Inspired by a transition town meeting, a group in Wooler is developting a community garden in the Old Vicarage's apple orchard. In April a couple of local BOG members made an informal visit to the Orchard to look at pruning needs and found some very old trees with good basic structure, albeit neglected for some time. It was exciting to speculate what variety of apples might reveal themselves in Autumn and to this end BOG arranged this visit to see what can be identified!
Directions: the Old Vicarage is a nursing home on the northern edge of Wooler. Off the A687 just past the Tankerville Arms p.h. approaching from the south - or just before if approaching from the south. Take drive to back of building and the orchard is next to the car park.
