Green Heart of Hawick
This is not a BOG-organised event, but BOG will be there - and still needs volunteers to help with the stand. Contact memb@bordersorganicgardeners.org.uk if you want to help, or just want more information.
The 2-day event starts on Friday 16th, to co-incide with the Farmers Market which is held on the 3rd Friday each month. The market is outside the Heart of Hawick. Inside there will be exhibitions [which are 17th only], films [starting with An Inconvenient Truth at 6pm on 16th], talks, discussions to raise awareness and interest in issues around sustainability, local food production, carbon emissions and local people taking control of, and responsibility for, their environment.
See below for more information about why the event has been organised. The programme for the 2 days is attached and a blog by Jonathan Dawson from Findhorn, who gave a really fascinating talk on local economies can be found at http://www.newstatesman.com/blogs/life-at-findhorn/2008/05/hawick-ecovillage-fair-recent.
