Hi everyone
This is my first ever blog, but I'm hoping there are people reading this who could offer me some advice.
I am in the midst of getting an open loop water source heat pump installed in my house. I was going to use the River Teviot for the water, but got into problems with SNH, so have had a water well drilled instead. The drillers have drilled to 51 metres, and the garden is now a quagmire. However, we have a good source of water - so much so that the drillers have suggested that we use it as a water source, even though we are on mains water.. We are having the water tested as part of the work up for the heat pump, and we will need a bag filter for the water for the heat pump. So the heat pump company are saying the only additional costs are for a deep well pump, which costs more than one just for the heat pump, and some extra controls.
Does anyone use a well for their source of water?Or do you know someone who uses a well for a heat pump and for their drinking water as well? I'm rather worried that it sounds too easy and there must be hidden problems or costs we are not aware of.
Thanks for any suggestions,
Yours
